Walter Flat Caps · Sizes
Find your size
Every cap is listed by head circumference in centimetres. The whole range sits inside eight centimetres, so one centimetre is already a size — measure once and the cap fits.
Size guide
The whole size range fits inside eight centimetres. That is why one centimetre is already a size.

How to measure
- Take a tape measure — a piece of string laid against a ruler afterwards does the job too.
- Just above the ears and round the widest point at the back. Not across the forehead and not over the eyebrows.
- Firm, but without pressing in. A finger should not fit underneath.
- Round up. Between two sizes, take the larger: a cap gives very little.
Guess, and you will be one or two centimetres out — and that is exactly one size. It is the only return that can genuinely be avoided.
If the size is right and it still does not sit, it is the shape and not the circumference.
- Flat capFlat, low crown and a short peak. Adds the least; the first cap for a man who has never worn one.
- Newsboy capFuller crown that falls to the back. Balances a narrow or long face; on a round one it looks heavy.
- Driver capHigh front and a stiff peak. Gives you an outline and forgives no mistake in size.
- Ivy CapThe smallest and closest-fitting. Discreet under a coat; on a large head it turns tight quickly.
- Eight-panel capEight stitched panels meeting at the top. You can see the construction — not a cap for going unnoticed.
- Winter capLined, with ear flaps you can pull down. Otherwise the same cuts.
And the cloth
Wool, new wool, tweed, herringbone, corduroy, cotton and linen hold their shape into a third winter. Thin polyester does not. What a given cap is made of is in the product details.
The head circumference is given in centimetres on every cap. The label sewn inside always takes priority over a rule of thumb.
